Michael Troy

Graduated from Victoria University, Manchester and went on to teach for over 20 years.
He has spent several years in Japan and Sweden learning and teaching. In both countries he exhibited in galleries: in Tokyo and Stockholm.
Since returning from Sweden, he has exhibited in galleries all around the northwest and taken part in many arts festivals as well as organising events in Vale Royal.

His work is varied and exciting. From illustrations for children’s books to spray can art on walls and murals of life sized figures. He works in the community having done commissions for example for the Olympic Committee in Crewe in 2012.  He creates covers for magazines such as The Reader and has held solo exhibitions in various locations around the country.
He is on the boards of several organisations for the Arts in the Northwest and is a part time teacher at Mid Cheshire College.

Having made the step to working in a commercial setting at Funky Aardvark, he is setting his goals at being more commercially astute and in a wider context, bringing art in general terms to venues such as castle Park Arts Centre and being more involved in Cheshire Artists Network as they  hold their annual exhibition this year during Festival of Arts in Northwich. This year he faces the challenge of curating the whole event including demonstrations and exhibits too to be displayed on a narrow boat

My work is derived from personal interests, such as archaeology, landscape, architecture, natural science, folklore and mythology. I use traditional, digital and alternative photographic processes to achieve the final results.

I sometimes use burning, abrasion, varnish and chemical distressing to enhance the artwork.

All my images are hand-printed, manipulated and toned to archival standards.
