Jo Jenkins
I have recently retired from teaching Art and now paint full time.
My images are based on places visited and my memories, whether they be from deserted villages in Turkey; the varied and spectacular landscape of New Zealand, or the colour and richness of India.
I am interested in colour, mood and the general impression of a situation. Some paintings are completely abstract, others contain obvious references such as to paths; windows or shadows.
There is always an awareness of light and an interest in the dramatic qualities it can create.
I am inspired by artists who play with paint and who give the media a chance to have a life of its own. These include PeterLlanyon and Michael Porter.
